The ironwork yurt is a grave, the last yurt for whoever is buried beneath it but permanent graves are actually a new tradition in a country where the people were historically nomadic. These new traditions are a result of changing times and the influences of the numerous ethnic groups that have settled in Kyrgyzstan, originally refugees from various parts of the Soviet Union.

All images are printed as archival quality giclée prints on Hahnemuhle Pearl. They are all limited edition (12 only) prints from the original photographic file, certified and signed by the photographer. They are available framed as presented or as print only. The sizes given are for print only.
