Michael has always been captivated by London: the views, the mix of old and new, the exquisite details of the historic buildings, and the abstract shapes of today’s superstructures. Much of Michael’s art is created from photographs taken while hanging out of a helicopter - the most exhilarating way to appreciate the beautiful patterns of London’s ever-changing landscape.
Michael says: “The National Theatre – the Brutalist beauty on London's South Bank and one of my favourite artistic muses. This is one of my favourite angles - it almost seems to be 3-D here, poking out of the piece. The simple Brutalist block shapes lend themselves to my style of art”.
The piece is created from an original photograph and printed directly onto super-thin brushed aluminium using a variety of bold bright colours to highlight how many different shapes and blocks make up the beautiful design.
This National Theatre piece is also available in pink, teal, and mellow yellow editions. It is made to order, and can usually be created and delivered in around 2 weeks. An aluminium subframe on the back makes it simple to hang.
