Mel’s passion for nature and birds is the heart of her art. She draws inspiration from her visits to family in the U.S., where she captures the vibrant beauty of hummingbirds in photos and then brings them to life on canvas. Each bird is unique, with its own dazzling colors and form

Mel shares. “I’m fascinated by their bright, varied colors and the magical quality they possess. It’s always a joy to bring their lively beauty into my art. Hummingbirds are such peaceful, delicate creatures, and I love capturing that on canvas.”

Mel’s backgrounds are a creative mix of different media, adding layers of texture and depth to her work. She enjoys experimenting with various paints and materials to create something special every time.

“I love adding gold or copper leaf to my backgrounds for a touch of sparkle. Playing with different layers, textures, and colors makes each piece truly unique!”

Now settled in rural Norfolk, Mel enjoys early morning dog walks along the coast before diving into her painting. Her home studio is her sanctuary, where she feels most at ease and fully immersed in her art.
