Chawk & Marot
A new exhibition with both 18th Century painting technique and cutting edge technology? Verre églomisé entwined with augmented reality? Pop and Rock icons seen through a new digital mastery? Who else could it be but Chawk + Marot.
Marc Marot (once was Managing Director of Island Records, no less) has created a spectacular collaborative partnership with contemporary portrait painter and street artist, Chris GK Hawkins. With their two creative disciplines skilfully merged, Chawk & Marot, will literally let their paintings come to life... here, at The Brunswick Art Gallery.
The exhibition, CHAWK & MAROT has a private preview on the 15th September and is showing from the 16th September to the 6 th October.
One of the few portrait painters in the world to use the phenomenally difficult ‘verre eglomise’ technique, CHAWK applies paint to the back of a sheet of glass (reclaimed in this case) the image is seen behind a mirror finish. Glass is fluid and CHAWK believes neither it or musical messages in general need to have perfect clarity - “as long as there’s feeling, substance will flow”.
Limited edition prints, hand signed by both artists, each carefully framed and offering augmented reality bringing this very special collection to life.
